🇦🇺 Johnny Furphy – Career-High Performance with the Pacers
Johnny Furphy delivered a standout performance for the Indiana Pacers, scoring a career-high 17 points in a recent game against the Orlando Magic. The 20-year-old rookie showcased his athleticism with a powerful dunk over former Pacer Goga Bitadze, energizing the bench and fans alike. In addition to his scoring, Furphy contributed six rebounds, three assists, and a steal, demonstrating his growing confidence and versatility on the court.

🇦🇺 Josh Giddey – Joins Elite Company with Triple-Double Feat
Josh Giddey continues to impress in his first season with the Chicago Bulls, recording a triple-double with 28 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists in a victory over the Miami Heat. This performance marked his seventh triple-double of the season and 18th of his career. Notably, Giddey became only the third player this season—alongside LeBron James and Nikola Jokic—to accumulate at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists. His all-around play has been instrumental in the Bulls' push for a playoff spot.

The 36-year-old Australian showcased resilience and elite striking, overcoming a second-round knockdown and vision issues in the fourth round to secure the victory. This win marks Volkanovski's second reign as featherweight champion, solidifying his status as one of the sport's elite fighters.

🌍 Currency Watch: Big Moves & Big Uncertainty
💶 EUR/USD – 3-Year Highs
The euro surged 4.29% higher last week, finishing at 1.1359, after peaking at 1.1473 — its highest level in three years.
➡️ A weaker USD and growing expectations of ECB rate stability drove the euro up, but underlying it all? Chaos in the markets, partly thanks to Trump’s on-again, off-again tariffs, which have spooked traders and increased volatility across the board.
💴 USD/JPY – Lowest Since Sept 2024
The yen strengthened as the USD/JPY dropped 1.4%, touching a low of 142.07 — levels not seen since September last year.
➡️ Traders fled to the yen for safety as global headlines were dominated by renewed trade war tensions, tariffs, and market uncertainty — especially with Trump’s latest protectionist rhetoric back in play.
💷 GBP/AUD – A Wild Ride with Long-Term Impact
GBP/AUD opened last week at 2.1648, the highest rate since Brexit (2016). The real action came late in the week when the Aussie dollar sold off sharply, dropping 4–9% across most currencies.
➡️ While the pound eased slightly, finishing at 2.0805, it’s still trading at its highest level since 2015. That kind of strength means big earning potential for UK-based athletes or expats transferring money back to Australia.
Even with a 2.8% weekly drop, we’re still in rare territory. A smart time to lock in forward contracts or hedge future transfers for those being paid in GBP.

Donald Trump can’t make up his mind yet.
📈 Other Markets Recap
Gold surged 6.84% this week, taking its monthly rise to over 12%, and is now sitting at all-time highs. With global instability and rate uncertainty, gold remains the market’s go-to safety play.
📊 S&P 500 bounced back hard — up 9% on the week after a rough month, where it dropped over 4.25% overall.
🇦🇺 ASX 200 closed 6.1% higher for the week, also recovering from steep losses the week before.
₿ Bitcoin broke back above the $80K USD level, finishing Sunday night at $84,514.36, up 7% on the week. Crypto markets broadly followed suit, rallying with the bounce in equities.
